ATM Commands

You can send these commands to ATMs from the CPS Portal.

Note Depending on your institution's configuration, not all of this functionality may be available.

Check Download

Performs a top-level hardware check of the ATM after sending a reset to let you know if the hardware is working properly.

Close

Closes the ATM and makes it inaccessible to cardholders.

Force Settle

Settles the ATM without the use of the settlement card. The ATM totals are adjusted, and an ATM Settlement report is generated. A settlement receipt is not printed at the ATM using this settlement method. After you select this option, a start-up message must be sent to bring the ATM back online. Force settlement does not work on true dial-up ATMs.

Jack Henry Support must activate this command to make it available for your institution.

Full Download

Sends screen loads and states, sends BIN (FIT) Tables, and verifies the current application version. If needed, it also updates the application version, performs a PIN encryption key change, and uploads ATM parameters, hardware configurations, and totals for viewing in the CPS Portal.

Open

Places a closed ATM back into service.

Remote Key Exchange

Initiates a remote public key exchange with the selected ATMs. This exchange updates the encryption keys at the ATM that the host uses to verify PIN entries. This command is only available for Diebold® and NCR® ATMs.

Note NCR® ATMs may need to put the pending command in an Error state to create an event to extract the ATM serial number from. After extracting the serial number, the system automatically sends another remote key exchange.

Reset

Resets all devices for an ATM and logs the event in the Audit Log.

Terminal Re-Sync

Sends a terminal re-sync to the selected ATM.

This command is necessary when updating an ATM's configuration. If necessary, you see the following dialog after saving changes to an ATM on the Edit ATM screen:

You must send a re-sync command for each ATM separately. This command is only available for Diebold® and NCR® ATMs.
